Here is another incredible example of a Screen Challenge. Many thanks to St Brigid's College in Coogee for creating such a wonderful Screen Challenge. I hope the panel rewards you for your hard work!

As this is our first year doing Waka, it's very difficult to judge our entries compared to other schools, especially other schools who have more experience than us. So I found some for us to look at! These are the entries for Buninyong Primary School for this years screen challenge. Watch them, have a think and let me know. What did they do well? What can we learn from this? I stumbled across this cover version of 'Numb' by Linkin Park, covered by Janet Devlin, and I am just in love. This performance is so heartfelt and so incredibly ethereal and beautiful. Recently, the lead singer of Link Park, Chester Bennington died, leaving millions of heartbroken fans. For me, this makes this song even more heartbreaking. Enjoy.
Wakakirri videos are LIVE TODAY!!!!! How exciting! Congratulations Year 6 students on a successful project. This is the first time West Byford Primary School has competed in Wakakirri, and the entire experience was an incredible learning experience for all of the students.
All of the work you see here is the students own. They decided on and wrote the story, composed the score and acted in the film, with Mrs George doing the filming and editing with the help of some of the students. I am so incredibly proud of your hard work! Here are the videos...enjoy! (and watch out for a sneaky teacher cameo appearance...) Every second Wednesday, T7 get to do a lesson of "Extra Music", and we often spend the time doing extension work. Today we discussed cochlear deterioration and how you can tell people's age by what frequencies they can hear. Do the quiz below to determine your age! (For the record, I can not hear the last FIVE frequencies... *sad face*) We would like our teachers to comment. How many can you hear? How many can't you hear? How old are your ears???
Thank you! Mrs George and T7
Year 6 students have been busy filming their incredible, incredible short films in preparation for the Wakakirri Screen Challenge. Have a look below at the video from WakaTV, explaining the challenge and what it entails.
You are all superstars!
Welcome back to Term 3 everyone. I hope you had a restful holiday and you are ready for an exciting term of learning! I have so many things I am looking forward to this term!
Wakakirri! This term the Year 6 students will be entering the final stage of creating their Wakakirri screen challenge entries. So far we have created stories, learnt about camera angles, storyboarded our concepts, composed an original film score to go with our short films and this term we are starting the filming process. Lights, camera, action! Notes will be handed out today or tomorrow, and need to be returned by the 11th of August. Senior Dalefest! Band and choir, hold onto your socks, we are headed to Dalefest! On the 8th of September, we will be boarding the bus and heading off to Kelmscott Hall to participate in on of the longest running choral festivals in Perth. Notes will come out 2 weeks before the event, and there will be a small charge to cover the bus hire. Have an incredible term everyone! Mrs George x Congratulations to all the fabulous Year 6 Students who have been busy writing the script and composing an original film score this term for the Wakakirri Screen Challenge. A full term of digital composition and you have produced incredible work! I am very proud of you.
If you would like to hear the Year 6s' original compositions, the link is here: My apologies to the Year 5 Students who didn't get to see the end of this today. This is Pentatonix's cover of the Queen great, Bohemian Rhapsody. Do you ever sit back and just think how incredibly lucky we are? How blessed we are to have so many opportunities and experiences?
That day was last Friday for me. On Friday I got to hang out with a bunch of Music teachers and some incredible kids from seven different schools, making beautiful music at Dalefest. Dalefest is a choral festival with a 30 year tradition in the 'dale' area. In actual fact, many of our Music teachers can remember doing Dalefest when they were in Primary School. The theme for this year was "Dreaming", and what a beautiful theme it was. Our West Byford Junior Choir reprised 'Daydream Believer', and despite being the smallest group, we sang loudly and sweetly. Thank you to the schools that came and shared their music, Armadale Primary School, Challis Community Primary School, Clifton Hills Primary School, John Wollaston Anglican Community School, Marri Grove Primary School and Roleystone Community College. We loved singing with you. Congratulations everyone. Your beautiful performance was a testament to the hard work you have put into learning your melody and lyrics, and you are all superstars in my eyes. Massive thanks must go to the incredible Mrs Stewart. Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into choir. |
