Without a doubt, it would have to be David Bowie. Could this man do anything wrong? His music speaks to me in a way that no other musician does. If pure emotion was made into a song, I think it would be Bowie's work. I was fortunate enough to see him live in Perth in 2003, and it stands out as one of the most incredible concerts I have ever been to. I can't possibly pick a favourite song, but this one is up there. If you've never heard any of David Bowie's work, enjoy. Mrs George Leave me a comment! Who is your favourite artist?
Look Bandies! Capos! I finally went to the music shop. HOORAY!
If you don't know, our school band runs from 7.45 to 8.20 on Wednesday and Friday mornings. Open to all students who play an instrument and want to play together with others. Welcome back to term 2 students. I hope you are having a restful ANZAC Day, and you are excited for Term 2 at West Byford Primary School.
I wanted to share some incredible feedback that we received from the Senior Sergeant from Mundijong Police Station, who was one of our honoured guests at our service. "The song by the choir was amazing. It was a very sombre moment as the choir sang, and I know that I was not alone in wanting to break out in applause for the efforts of the choir and their teacher when the song concluded. I know we don’t clap at these ceremonies- but please pass onto those children – that the song was beautifully sung and touched the heart of many present. I know that as I watched the faces of parents and teachers- it was well received." Well done everyone, what wonderful feedback to receive. Term 2 has some incredible things in store in Music. Year 6 will be starting work on Wakakirri, Year 5 will be starting digital composition, and Year 2, 3 and 4 will be continuing their classroom programmes. Band will recommence Friday morning, however the classroom will be open tomorrow morning if you would like to practise. I hope you have been practising over the holidays! Junior Choir will be attending Junior Dalefest this term, and will continue working on their song and begin learning the community songs. Senior Choir will also be working on our community songs and item for Dalefest, specifically working to concrete our separate parts and create light and shade in the piece with dynamics. I hope you have all had a wonderful break with your families and I look forward to see you all tomorrow. Mrs George x Today our combined choirs performed our very first song at our ANZAC remembrance assembly. Unfortunately, for the recording, it was very, very windy. I have tried my best to edit out the 'wind' noise. Mrs Stewart and I are very proud of your performance, and several staff members and parents had to wipe away tears. Congratulations, everyone. Have an amazing holiday. |
